I've always loved maps, particularly contour maps. Hiking in the White Mountains, I'd pore over the maps tracing trails and ravines across the ridgelines. I've enjoyed becoming more familiar with these maps by making slate coasters engraved with the contour lines and trails of some of my favorite mountains of New England. I've also recently started exploring the maps available from NOAA to engrave nautical maps from the harbors and oceans surrounding my home on Cape Cod.

I hand-design each map using a mix of publicly available GIS data and my own knowledge and exploration. I've expanded my workshop as my coasters have become more popular and now work with two different laser machines to engrave my coasters. All of my slate is mined and cut in the United States and I do all of the engraving work myself in my shop on Cape Cod.

One of my favorite parts of this business is making custom maps for customers.
